Medal of Honor recipient has a local connection
July 12 U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Leroy Petry received the Medal of Honor from President Obama for his heroism in Afghanistan. He was wounded in both legs and lost his right hand intercepting an enemy grenade, saving the lives of his fellow Army Rangers. It was his eighth duty.
Leroy is the nephew of Burt and Jane Park in Tiffin. He is the son-in-law of Jane Fonseca half-sister to California law.
Nathan L. Setzler
Air Force Airman Nathan L. Setzler graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The pilot completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, the Air Force core values, physical fitness and the principles of war and basic skills.
He is the son of Barb Setzler of CR 288, Clyde.
Setzler graduated in 2003 from the crop of Temple Christian Academy, Clyde. He received a BA in 2008 the Victory Bible College, North Augusta, South Carolina
Young to reign at fair
Local young people are to represent different animal species in Seneca County Fair, which begins Monday.
Jamie Dunlap is the queen of the rabbit, and Alex Wood is the king of rabbits.Mercedes Snyder is the princess of rabbit, and the shock Ryan is the prince of rabbits. Hannah Williams is the queen of goat, and the Princess Isabelle Lewis goat. Trisha Smith is the queen of pork, Candace Lease is the dairy princess and the princess is Destony Severs sheep. Carrie Galloway is the queen of birds, and Hannah Brown is the princess of poultry.
